Getting Started
Zenith is a satellite tracking application that helps you monitor satellite passes, plan
contacts, and track amateur radio satellites.
To get started:
- Click the Options button to configure your location and select
satellites to track.
- Browse the map to see real-time satellite positions and footprints.
- View upcoming passes in the sidebar panel on the left.
Map Navigation
The main map shows Earth with satellite positions in real-time:
- Zoom: Use the scroll wheel or +/- buttons
- Pan: Click and drag the map
- Satellite Info: Click on a satellite marker for detailed information
Satellite Selection
To select which satellites to track:
- Click Options and go to the "Satellites" tab
- Check the boxes for satellites you want to track
- Use the search box to filter the satellite list
- Click Save & Close to apply your selection
Pass Predictions
Upcoming satellite passes appear in the left sidebar:
- Green: Currently visible passes
- Yellow: Upcoming passes
- Blue: Passes that will be visible soon
Click on a pass to view detailed information about the satellite and to see a polar radar
visualization of the pass.
Schedule View
Click the Schedule button to see a detailed table of all upcoming passes.
You can:
- Filter passes by satellite
- Choose how many days to show in the schedule
- View start/end times, maximum elevation, and duration
Sked Planning
Use the Sked Planning feature to find mutual visibility windows with another
station:
- Enter the remote station's grid square
- Select which satellites to include
- Set minimum elevation and time period
- Click "Find Mutual Passes" to see opportunities for contacts
Roves Integration
If you have a Hams.at API key, you can:
- View upcoming rover activations in the sidebar
- Click a rove to open its details on Hams.at
- Configure roves display in the Options under the "Hams.at" tab
Radio Integration
Zenith supports integration with CSN Technologies S.A.T for automatic satellite tracking with
compatible rotators and radios.
To configure:
- Go to Options > "Radio" tab
- Enable CSN Technologies S.A.T integration
- Enter your device's IP address or domain name
QTRigDoppler Integration
Zenith supports QTRigDoppler for advanced radio and rotator control:
- Go to Options > "Radio" tab and enable QTRigDoppler.
- Enter your QTRigDoppler server address.
- Use the QTRigDoppler panel to select satellites, transponders, adjust frequencies, and control your radio/rotator.
APRS Integration
Zenith includes an APRS panel for sending and receiving APRS messages:
- Enable APRS in Options > "APRS" tab and configure the WebSocket server and port.
- Open the APRS panel to send messages, CQ, or your position, and view received packets.
Cloudlog API
Integrate with Cloudlog to log your satellite contacts automatically:
- Enable Cloudlog API in Options > "Radio" tab.
- Enter your Cloudlog URL and API key (found in your Cloudlog user settings).
Partner View
Use Partner View to visualize a contact's location and elevation on the map:
- Click the Partner View button () on the map.
- Enter your partner's grid square and an optional label.
- See their position and real-time elevation overlayed on the map.
Manual TLE Input
If you need to add or update satellite TLEs manually:
- Go to Options > "Satellites" tab and click Input TLEs Manually.
- Paste the 3-line TLE data for each satellite and submit.
